Series Link Behaviour for BBC1 (101) On Sunday 29th June for 24hrs from 18:00hrs

In this 24 hr period there were 19 programmes broadcast of which 12 were linked.

This equates to 63% of programmes being linked.

Below you will find the list of programmes that were not linked by BBC1 for this period. My intention is to highlight these and to suggest whether any of them could be linked, and if so, what the overall % could have been.

19:00 - Saint Paul - One off drama not requiring a link.
20:00 - BBC News - This should have been linked as it is on daily
23:00 - Sabrina - This was a film and therefore not requiring a link.
01:00 (30.06.03) - Weatherview - On many times and therefore could carry a link.
01:05 - BBC News 24 - This programme should carry a link as it is on every morning.
06:00 - Breakfast - Should be linked as it is on every morning
13:30 - Regional News - This programme is on everyday and should carry a link.

New set, nice presenters, a good programme to whizz through once recorded, but no series link Appaently the weather is our favourite subject, so why not Series Link it?

Out of the remaining 7 programmes 5 could have been linked, which would have given a new total of 17 programmes linked, therefore equating to a new daily % of 89.47%, an improvement of 26.47%.

Series Link Behaviour for BBC1(101) On Monday 30th June for 24hrs from 18:00hrs

In this 24hr period there were 27 programmes broadcast of which 17 linked.

This equates to 62.96 % of programmes being linked.

18:30 - London News - This should be linked as it is on every day at many times.
22:25 - London News - Should be linked for same reasons as above.
23:35 - Stupid Punts - This programme should be linked as it is on every week

01:05 - Recovered - This should be linked as it is on again on 08.07.03

 It would just be too easy to make a joke about non use of Series Links and a programme called Stupid Punts... New programmes like Recovered don't stand a chance if they're not Series Linked

Out of the remaining 10 programmes 9 could have been linked, which would have given a new total of 26 programmes linked, therefore equating to a new daily % of 96.29%, an improvement of 33.33 %.

Series Link Behaviour for BBC1 (101) On Tuesday 1st July for 24hrs from 18:00hrs

In this 24hr period there were 26 programmes broadcast of which 15 were linked.

This equates to 57.69 % of programmes being linked.

23:35 - Night shift - This is a film so there is no need for a link

Regional shows deserve series links, so come on BBC - go to it... Cure please, cure these programmes from having no series link

Out of the remaining 11 programmes 10 could have been linked, which would have given a new total of 25 programmes linked, therefore equating to a new daily % of 96.15 % an improvement of 38.46 %


Series Link Behaviour for BBC1 (101) On Wednesday 2nd July for 24hrs from 18:00hrs

In this 24hr period there were 28 programmes broadcast of which 15 were linked.

This equates to 53.57 % of programmes being linked.

 Only fools and programme schedulers who can't see the gaps would leave a favourite comedy like this without a series link a makeover for certain shows which dont yet have series links would be nice

In this 24hr period there were 23 programmes broadcast of which 14 were linked.

This equates to 60.86 % of programmes being linked.

Children's programmes aren't consistently series linked a sporting weekly flagship show with no series link - why?

In this 24hr period there were 19 programmes broadcast of which 12 were linked.

Overall Conclusion to BBC1's Series Link Behaviour

As it stands with what the BBC offered in the way of Series Links, Saturday 5th July was the best day for links, coming in at 63.15 %. The worst day for links was Friday 4th July at a lowly 39.28 %.

After then going through all the listings for each day it then became very surprising with their handling of the links. Each day offered certain room for improvement.

The best day for links, in terms of improvement was Sunday 29th June where it would have only been possible to of improved by adding 5 links, which would have equated to a very modest 11.53%.

The worst day for links on BBC1 in terms of links was Friday 4th July, where it would have been possible to of added a further 13 links, which equated to a massive 46.43 %, which in fact would have made it the weeks best performer.
